Pendle Manufacturing At Its Best- August 12th 2017

Riggs Autopack Ltd is an award winning British manufacturer of high quality volumetric depositors and filling machines and bespoke conveyor filling lines. They are a UK market leader with an excellent reputation and supply their equipment to the national and international food industry.

They are proudly situated in the Pendle area of East Lancashire; an area that has a proud heritage in the field of world class engineering. When describing the Pendle area in his maiden speech on 17th June 2010, local MP Andrew Stephenson said: “Located in the hills of the Pennines in North-East Lancashire, and some would say beyond, Pendle offers some of England's finest countryside, including Pendle hill, from which my seat takes its name, as well as beautiful villages and busy towns.

The area is rich in history, not only with the story of the Pendle witches, which brings many visitors to the area, but with our industrial heritage with the Leeds-Liverpool canal, numerous mills and other incredible feats of engineering. The old industries of cotton and textiles have now all but disappeared, but the industrious spirit of the area remains as strong as ever.”

Riggs Autopack is one of the many UK and world leading engineering firms to proudly fly the flag for the Pendle area. Their depositors and filling machinery are built in-house at their Nelson factory; they are one of the most precise and hygienic on the market with exceptional performance, reliability and build quality.

The Nelson firm take great pride in supplying their depositors and filling equipment to a huge variety of food manufacturers throughout the UK and overseas. Clients typically range from small start-up companies and artisan producers through to multi-national food groups and large international factories such as Bakkavor, Kerry, Greencore and Samworth Brothers.

They have continued to grow year on year, and due to the hard work of their dedicated employees, they have become a UK market leader. Due to continued growth and demand for their equipment, in July 2013 the company re-located to a new 50,000 square foot factory. The move has given them the room to further expand, win new orders, recruit personnel in key areas, and bring previously sub-contracted work back in-house. This in turn has enabled them to introduce new design and manufacturing processes, increase UK and export sales, all of which has directly contributed to their continued success.

Their modern factory, located on Brunswick Street, Nelson, incorporates the latest computer technology in both production and design. The machining centres and CNC lathes enables their depositors and filling equipment to be produced to an extremely high standard and offers flexibility in providing a quick response to customer's bespoke orders. There is now room to take on more large scale projects at the same time with space to do more in-house fabrication, which means they can move forward far quicker. It has opened up all sorts of opportunities.

The growth of the company itself however, is directly attributable to their highly skilled personnel, the vast majority of which reside in the Pendle area. Without this world class engineering experience, the growth and the positioning of the company on the world stage, would simply not have been possible.
