Employee Spotlight: John Guild- January 06th 2023

 

We’d like to highlight our Technical Sales Engineer John Guild, who has entered his 10th year with Riggs Autopack.

John is a well-respected and very much liked member of staff; he’s friendly and amiable, and always puts a smile on his colleague’s faces.

Over the years, he has helped a huge number of small, medium and large-scale food producers grow their business with Riggs Autopack depositors and filling equipment, and always goes the extra mile for client’s.

Away from work, he’s a very keen scuba diver, keeps fit by cycling, swimming and walking, and enjoys spending time with his young grandson. We’ll let John tell his story in his own words......

“Riggs Autopack is a great company to work for. It is small enough to be adaptable and responsive to customer sales, service and spares requirements, and large enough to develop new machinery for changing markets. The company offers entry level machines for small scale food producers and bespoke filling lines for larger organisations".

"My experience in the food industry starts in the early 1980s in packaging, cartons and metal cans, and progressed to selling machines worldwide. Prior to joining Riggs Autopack, I spent 15 years with GEA Food Solutions who design and manufacture food processing machines. Here I acquired further knowledge in food processes and line configurations".

"I joined Riggs Autopack in 2013 as Technical Sales Engineer for the East Midlands and South-East region. The job is primarily customer facing and I enjoy the initial contact through to developing equipment for the sale".

"It's interesting to see how prospects look to set up and sell their products in the market. There's an immense variety of products that need to be packed in bags, bottles, jars and trays for example, and two days are never the same. This provides continued interest and excitement. I’m able to call on a lot of personal experience in food processing technology which I’m pleased to pass on to customers”.

 

  

 

John has been a fantastic asset to Riggs Autopack and is a very popular staff member. He has been extremely successful within the role, not only creating valuable relationships with existing customers, but has installed a large number of the Model 1000 equipment into new companies. These include semi and fully automatic depositors, transfer pumps and bespoke conveyor filling lines.
