Riggs Autopack Launch Servo Drive Depositors- October 04th 2018

Riggs Autopack is pleased to announce we have launched our Model 1000 SD range of Servo Drive Depositors. Please see below for an overview of the advantages of servo control depositors and the versatility / flexibility that it can provide on maximising throughputs and reducing downtime.

Advantages Of Servo Over Pneumatics

Pre-set recipe HMI for one touch recall to automatically set speed and weight.
Greater control on fine increment adjustment to the weight and speed during operation.
Complete control over the stroke action to maximise throughputs per product.
Running cost savings due to reduced pneumatic requirements.
Data extraction via USB for performance and downtime.
Automatic feedback adjustment to weights from a check weigh (please bear in mind there may be some distance between check weigh and depositor – not instant feedback and not pump specific alterations).

The versatility of the different operational functions for multi-pump servo food depositors are listed below, with our Youtube video to help illustrate each point:

1. Automatic synchronisation of stroke setting

Instant synchronisation of dispensing units on multi-pump machines using pre-set recipe selection rather than having to use restriction valves on pneumatic pumps. Dramatically reduces valuable set up time. Total flexibility of deposit and priming speeds during stroke: ramp up and ramp down functions available to maximise speeds for small neck containers, splashing products or where there is a risk of contaminating seal areas. This allows filling speeds to be maximised which can increase throughputs.

2. Alternating

Alternate strokes from multi-pump applications can improve throughputs on specific applications. E.g. for applications such as platen formations and deposit weights above barrel capacity. Two strokes can be achieved without priming which will then be carried out during a third operation of a line such as indexing, capping, sealing or manual handling.

3. Multi-Shot

A number of forward strokes from one prime. This is useful on platen machines, sequencing heads or even VFFS applications. One pump can sequence a number of deposits (individual weight against barrel volume specific) eradicating priming during operation until a third process such as index, container traverse, seal or capping is required.

On a two pump system, the first pump could deposit ‘X’ amount of shots, at the end of the stroke, the second pump would start the same sequence of ‘X’ shots whilst the first pump primes. Allowing for continuous depositing.

4. Asymmetric

We can time in two different stroke lengths to start and finish at the same time allowing consistent dual product depositing. This function opens up the ability to be more creative with the visual end result of a product, giving consistent repeatability over a number of different axis.
